The Met purchased their first Targa 31in 1998 to update a traditional fleet of more old-fashioned craft.
Since that more and more of the river police duties are carried out with one of the Targas in their fleet. Thanks to the improved working conditions for its crew – quietness, warmth, safety and practical handling – the Targas has grown in appreciation among its every-day users.
Nowadays, there is an even chance that anyone living in or visiting London will have noticed a Police Targa patrolling up and down the Thames and further downstream.
