Jet-powered Targa 44
The boat has successfully been test-driven and the performance of the boat is very good.
The maneuverability is – of course – amazing and the top speed of 39 knots is even slightly higher than originally expected. A nice cruising speed is approximately 32-34 knots.
The boat is equipped with twin Volvo Penta D9-575 engines – adding to a total of 1 150 HP. The D9 in-line 6 diesel is developed from the latest design in modern diesel technology. The engine has a robust block with ladder frame, high pressure unit injector system, 4 valves per cylinder, “twin entry” turbo and after-cooler. -- Furthermore the jet-system consists of Kamewa (Rolls-Royce) FF340 water-jets, Twin Disc MG-5075 series transmission, Centaflex coupling system, and vector-stick maneuvering. To make the boat even more special, the customer wanted to make his boat without fly-bridge. Overall, one can say this pilot-project with jet-drive in the Targa 44 was successful and that jet-drive is something that will be offered as an option also in the future.
