Volvo Penta IPS 600 for Targa 44

The boat will be ready for this summer and test-driven during the summer. The T44 will be equipped with 2 x Volvo Penta IPS 600 with D6 diesels of 435 HP each and the famous “Joystick” – for precise maneuvering of the boat at low speeds.

The new engine represents the state of the art in modern diesel technology, with electronically controlled common-rail fuel injection, double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder, turbocharger, inter-cooler and compressor. 

“The performance of the boat is expected to be more or less the same with IPS or with stern-drives and they are having their own strengths. Where and how the boat is going to be used will determine which system will be the best solution for the customer”, says Johan Carpelan.
